First Day to file for General Election Ballot: Monday, January 19, 2026.

First day to file for place on the general election ballot is 30th day before the last day to file.

Last Day to file for General Election Ballot: Friday, February 18, 2026

Last day and deadline to file for place on the general election ballot is the 78th day before the date of the election, by 5:00 P.M.

Requirement and Deadline for Filing Candidacy

Director candidacy filing requirements and deadlines are as follows:

To run for election to the District’s Board of Directors, a person must file an application for a place on the ballot. The application must be filed with the Secretary of the District’s Board of Directors or the Secretary’s designated agent by mail, email, fax or in person. An application may be downloaded/printed from the website of the Texas Secretary of State at https://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/pol-sub/2-21f.pdfhttps://www.sos.state.tx.us/elections/forms/pol-sub/2-21f.pdf.

The Application for a Place on the General Election Ballot can be obtained from the Election Agent or from the Secretary of State’s website (Form 2-49). The Application must be completely filled out, signed and notarized, and must be timely received in the office of the Election Agent as prescribed by Section 144.005(d), Texas Election Code.

There are no filing fees associated with your application.

The filing period begins January 19, 2026, and the filing deadline is February 18, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

Write-In Candidate

A person may run for election to the District’s Board of Directors as a write-in candidate and to do so must file a declaration of write-in candidacy. The declaration must be filed with the Secretary of the District’s Board of Directors or the Secretary’s designated agent by mail, email, fax or in person. A declaration form may be downloaded/printed from the website of the Texas Secretary of Statehttps://www.sos.texas.gov/elections/forms/pol-sub/2-23f.pdf. The last day and deadline to file a declaration of write-in candidacy for the general election is the 74th day before the date of the election, by 5:00 P.M. The filing deadline for write-in candidates is February 22, 2026.

Qualification of Directors

Qualifications of office for West Harris County Municipal Utility District No. 2 can be found in Texas Water Code §§ 49.052 and 54.102. Additional eligibility requirements for public office may be found in Texas Election Code §141.001, as applicable.
